Getting Started
There are a number of simple steps to follow:
- You need to register as self-employed with HMRC. This is a simple form filling exercise, or it can be done by telephone. Do call us if you need any help.
- You need to keep all your expense receipts so we suggest our 'shoebox' approach. Quite simply you find a shoebox and just put all of your business receipts inside.
- Open a separate bank or building society account.
- Continue to keep all business related bills, receipts, utility bills, bank and credit card statements and send to DSL at the end of each accounting period.
